Sailing
In the reading "A People's History of Science" it was really interesting to learn about sailors and how they used their knowledge of ocean currents to navigate the water. For me, I think it's really interesting to read about people and actually applying it to real world actions. This shows how science can be applied in the real world, which is pretty interesting. When it comes to science and math, it seems like people always feel that these two subjects aren't important and can't have an impact on anything in "real" life. I was glad that this article gave a fantastic example of it being applied.

I also found it interesting that the article showed how science and math can be used to make a difference in the world. This new advances made it easier to navigate the ocean and make trailing easier.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it was cool to see how this knowledge can make a difference.
ReplyDeleteI found this reading interesting as well. I agree that it demonstrates the usefulness and importance of both science and math in everyday life that people either don't realize or appreciate.
ReplyDeleteI think as an engineering student I struggle sometimes to see where my math and science courses can be applied. It truly is valuable to read articles that give us real world application as well as understand knowledge isn't always learned at school or in books, instead from real world experience.
