Humboldt University

The Humboldt University and Jagiellonian museum both interested me because despite being important historical sites that see many tourists, they're also commonly used today. Even the rooms that we saw in the museum section of the Jagiellonian are still used for conferences and other events. It shows how people here value the opportunity to display their history to tourists but don't want to strip those places of their original function to do so. I think it would be irritating to attend a university that frequently has tourists, but maybe it's just normal for the students here.

  1. I also agree that the University was an interesting part of our trip in Poland. I especially liked how they had a globe from Copernicuses time. It was interesting to see what that globe had right and wrong.

  2. I agree it was very interesting to hear that the university is used both as a museum and a university. I thought this was a very unique feature because they are using their resources that they already have to make multiple uses for one building. This is beneficial because then they only need one building instead of two buildings.

  3. I never thought about this connection between the two universities. I agree that it would seen weird to be in class or in a meeting and there are tourist wandering around.

  4. I also agree with Jamison. I appreciate that they allowed professors, not married, to live on campus. This probably made their life easier but they wouldn't be able to separate their social life from work.
